お久しぶりです！

I haven't updated in a month!  Yikes!  I've been taking pictures, but I got backlogged trying to organize all the pictures from one event to put up.  I give up.  You'll probably get like 5-10 posts of Nikko, then 3 posts of Fuji or so... I dunno.  Anyways, here's some pictures!

This is "Yuba Udon" - a specialty dish from Nikko.

31 Flavors

Miyuki is a friend of mine from school.  We were pretty surprised a couple months ago when we realized we would both be in Japan at the same time.  In the same city.  Her family lives in the city where I'm doing my internship.  It was great to be able to meet up with her on the other side of the world!

I also had some Baskin Robbins ice cream that was amazing.  Mint chocolate chip with cookie dough pieces in it.  I was blown away.

Bug

I was exhausted biking home on Thursday and passed a couple of flowers that I thought "Wow that's cool, but I'll take a picture of it later."  Then I saw this bug and I knew I had to take a picture.

No idea what it is, but it is pretty.

Clouds

A little tribute to my brother.  He's too busy taking care of his kids now to take pictures of clouds.

This was taken a few days ago, but I've been super busy and couldn't upload it until now.

Dance!

I went to an AWESOME dance in Shibuya tonight.  It was a church activity and TONS of fun.  I was pretty late, apparently they all made T-shirts beforehand because it was a black light party.

I also met up with some mission friends.  A great way to end the day!

Do Yuna Tokyo?

You know? Alright it doesn't quite work like that, I know.  But!  I was able to have an awesome night in Tokyo meeting with one of my childhood friends!  Yuna and I hadn't seen each other in about 10 years, but thanks to the internet, we were able to meet up in Tokyo!

We had a great time, I couldn't believe how fast the time went by!

Drill Dust

I was drilling a plastic rod at work today and these perfect swirly things were made.  I held on to them for the whole day in order to take pictures of them.  Then I threw them away after I had my pictures.

Monday Night!

A group of us randomly decided to go out to eat after work today.  It was pretty fun.  I had the strongest ginger ale I've ever had.  It probably was just ginger juice and carbonated water.

After that mini-party, some of stopped by the Tokyo Sky Tree since we had to change trains at that station anyway!

Kushikatsu & Karaoke

A group of us from work went to Shinjuku and had a great time eating kushikatsu (kind of like deep fried shish-ka-bobs).  After that we went to a nearby karaoke place and had an even better time!  It was great!

Chinese Food!

I went with Nagi to this chinese restaurant.  Holy cow.  It was amazing!  大福元 is probably my favorite chinese place now!

Across the Street

So there's a cool apartment building across the street.  ...Unfortunately none of the pictures I took turned out well.  I'll have to go back again.  I did notice the cool street lights around here though!  Here's a close up and a picture of the front of the company's dorm complex.

Flowers in Japan

 A couple of pictures of some flowers I noticed on my way home.  They've been sitting in my computer for a while, finally got around to uploading them.

I like the lines in the top flower, and the bottom one is a great color!

Japan 5 - Tokyo Trip #1

This one is especially long since I didn't get a picture up yesterday.  I also did a ton of stuff today, so here we go:

Japan 4

A cute little flower at the entrance to Mabuchi.  I'll be taking pictures from there again, it is a huge flower bed with all sorts of colors in it.  It rained today a lot, thus the cool water droplets.

Japan the Third

It has been a long time since I've had good ramen.  This was delicious.

Japan #2

I was walking home from work today, and this warehouse had its door open.  The whole place was full of these cylindrical containers.  I felt a little bad just taking a picture of their work, but I don't think anyone can glean any information from this.

Japan #1

There was a beautiful sunset my first full day in Japan.  This picture doesn't do it justice because I had to walk for a good five minutes to get out of all the big buildings I was stuck in.  The sun was a great big ball of red that lit up the whole sky.

Flying Around

This is some cool art hanging in the San Jose airport.  The little panels were actually LCD screens or something and would change from transparent to gray.  I thought it was neat.

This weekend I also spent time in the Hong Kong International Airport.  That was cool.  I got to see the skyline of some of the mainland too.

Then I flew to Japan.  And didn't have an internet connection, so I couldn't upload anything.  But now I do, and I am!

So we went down to the Monterey Bay Aquarium.  It was awesome!  I took a TON of pictures, so this is going to take multiple posts to cover it all.  I'll be putting jump breaks so the home page doesn't get super cluttered.

Day 38: California

So it has been super busy here in California.  But here's some brief updates:  it rained, and I tried to photo that, but it didn't work out.  So we made a fire instead because we were soaked from the rain.

Yesterday we went mini-golfing.  It was a lot of fun, and I got some good pictures.  Here's a picture of some of the flowers at the course.

All in all, its been great and super busy!

I took this one as we were driving from Utah to California.  Usually a pretty boring drive, but with post-production, everything looks better!

Today is a double feature!  The top is a picture of a granite countertop which appears to be black with gold flecks.  I had no idea it would look like this up close!

Some pretty clouds over the mountains.  The edges of the photo are a little blurry, I'm not entirely sure why that happened.  I'll have to play with it some more.

So I got a new camera today!  This is my second picture with it.  I'm still figuring out how to mess with all the settings, but so far so good!  I really like it!

So I wanted to get the lines of my shirt AND the lines of the threads.  It didn't work out.  I'll try this again later maybe, when I come up with a more clever way of doing it.

Happy Easter!  Candy eggs are easily photographed, but I spent the day thinking about Jesus Christ and what an influence His Gospel is in my life.  I'm so grateful for the teachings He gives us that have brought me so much happiness.  Learn more by clicking here.
